Mid-Year Update from Wurtec Toronto

2022 continues to be an interesting year for Wurtec’s Eastern Canada branch. In fact, drive through any of the major metropolitan areas and you will see cranes! Wurtec’s branch office, located in the Toronto suburb of Pickering, is not immune to this either with a large multi-building condominium development being erected right outside of our front door!

The year started off with the threat of major supply chain issues as a result of the global pandemic, intensified by major flooding resulting in rail and highway closures in British Columbia that all but shut down the nation’s transportation system. This delayed international shipments from ports in the west into eastern Canada, which did have a small impact on Wurtec’s wire rope supply. However, luck was on our side and we managed to weather the storm with the patience of our customers.

Cable continues to be a hot commodity and lead times from our vendors have increased significantly over the past year. Wurtec has positioned itself well to be able to offer alternative travel cables to what is traditionally ordered, should the need arise.

Components and service parts are strong sellers in Eastern Canada with roller guides leading the way. And our customers continue to count on Wurtec for the convenience and ease of ordering of items such as pit switches, rope wedge sockets, fans, limit switches, gibs, rollers, and a whole host of other parts that are often not associated with Wurtec’s traditional scope of supply.

This is one of the best resources available to the industry regarding installation products, including traditional tools and new and exciting product offerings. As businesses open their doors a little more after two years of lockdowns, working from home, pandemic signage, and masks, Wurtec’s Toronto branch personnel - Donna, Tom, Ike, Patrick, Justin, David, Julie, Scott, and Hugh – welcome one and all to drop by and say hi.
