Wurtec Engages Canadian Colleagues at CECA Convention

Le Westin hotel in picturesque downtown Montreal played host to the 48th annual CECA Convention from May 30th through June 2nd, 2022.

Hosted by the Canadian Elevator Contractors Assocation (CECA), this convention attracts vertical transportation professionals from across the country, many of them representing independent elevator construction and service companies.

As a member of CECA’s board of directors, Wurtec Toronto branch manager Hugh Hunter played an active role in planning and executing the event.

“We were concerned about low turnout for this year’s convention, as COVID restrictions are still in place in parts of Canada,” Hugh commented. “But we were very pleased with the number of exhibitors and guests and the overall enthusiasm of the crowd.”

Hugh also manned Wurtec’s supplier booth with the help of CEO Steve Wurth; Steve’s wife Jane; Wurtec Vancouver branch manager Mike Hurley; and specialty products director Kevin Heling. The team demonstrated a selection of Wurtec’s industry tools and components - including the well-received Henning RC-Series Permanent Overlaod Sensors - and engaged with suppliers and customers both at the exhibition and at off-site recreational events.

“The atmosphere throughout the week was overwhelmingly positive,” Hugh noted. “Even with the uncertain economic climate, this convention gave us many reasons to be optimistic about the future of the Canadian elevator industry.”
